Hey hi hello!
Welcome to my little treehouse. My name is Heliana, and I would describe myself as a crafty human person trying to art their way through life.
Facts about me (some may even be fun):
I’m queer.
My chronic pain and minor health issues are a masterclass in collaboration. Each one alone would be inconvenient, all of them together activating at once is rolling a nat 1 on too many checks in rapid succession.
If the previous sentence didn’t give it away, I love Dungeons & Dragons. I play a druid in my current campaign. Take a guess where the business’ name inspiration came from.
I’m a late diagnosed AuDHDer.
I have always been creatively inclined, from making friendship bracelets as a teen to getting an MA in screenwriting a few years ago. I love writing, and painting and making things with my hands and succumbing to the chaos gremlin that is my muse (consult previous paragraph for more information).
With all this in mind, guess why I opened a small business. Now, what do I make and why? Well, let me tell you.
I discovered wire wrapped jewellery about 6 years ago and completely fell in love with it. It’s such a distinct looking technique, it’s very versatile and hardly anyone I knew had any idea what it even looked like. I love making gifts by hand, but the obsession with wire wrapping went deeper than whipping out a skill for a birthday craft. I wanted to create unique and fun jewellery that would speak to people, make them feel seen and like wearing something I made helps them express themselves and feels true and authentic and fun. And makes them feel beautiful too! I got really into it, as you can see. This resulted in the Dreamweave collection.
Wait, you might say, why is that a collection and not the entirety of what I make at The Druid’s Treehouse?
Well, remember that chaos gremlin and how I love many creative things and the chronic pain and the AuDHD? I love wire wrapping. It can be quite painful for my wrists though, and I get hand tremors sometimes. Oh, I’m also clumsy, so I’ve been known to stab my fingers with the wires at times. Not intentionally. But I think this helps you get the picture. So, during these kind of trying times, sprinkle in other things I love.
Enter hand painted jewellery, plus the opportunity to make a lot of them using scrap wood that my partners’ firm would just throw away. I try to be eco-conscious, always keeping scraps from my own metal work too (I actually have entire designs made only from such scraps), and I’d been itching to paint more. Some laser cut hand painted jewellery designs may have even appeared to me in a dream sometime. Plus, holding a brush is less painful and painting can be quite therapeutic when the mean perfectionist demons don’t come to visit. And so, Nymphnook came to be.
From this I can imagine you can tell why there’s also a third collection.
Cornucopia is the coming together of the wire wrapping and painting into designs that don’t quite fit neatly into either category. This is where my special little outcasts go to chill until their person finds and claims them.
You know, I’ve rewritten this entire section because the initial one was too long.
It was much shorter than this one.
This one feels more like me, so I’m sticking with it.
If you’re a kind or incredibly curious nosy person that has read this far, I see you and I appreciate you. Now buy my stuff!!! If you like it. I’m not preparing an aggressive spell or anything.
